Cold commodities make up around one-fifth of all air freight worldwide. A sizeable percentage of that is also exported. It is more usual and substantially more profitable to export goods to foreign markets, particularly Asia, than to domestic US ones.

One of the largest international freight companies is the Eurofreight International Group, which has its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. IBISWorld estimates that in 2017, Eurofreight held 31% of the global market for goods forwarding. But it wasn't until 2008—quite recently—that it was made available in the US. Eurofreight allegedly intends to gain traction in the US by expanding its global network of airport agents—the network carriers whose agents occupy the space used by goods forwarders for the agents' products.
